The Misty Mountains are home to pristine high-altitude rainforest, diverse flora and fauna, crystal-clear creeks and thundering waterfalls, spread out over the Tully Gorge, Tully Falls and Wooroonooran National Parks.
With 130km of dirt roads and wilderness tracks on offer, their breathtaking landscapes are ready to be experienced by mountain bikers with a taste for adventure.
Mountain bikes are permitted on three of this area’s wilderness tracks: the Koolmoon Creek, Gorrell and Cardwell Range tracks.
These serve up rides of varying distance and difficulty, from intermediate to hard, for experienced, well-equipped riders looking for a challenge in often very isolated territory.
Less adventurous riders can experience the stunning rainforest sights with less time and effort on the many bike-friendly dirt roads that thread through the region.
Several camping areas make it possible to extend your stay in the wilderness, many of them with picnic, camper trailer/motorhome/caravan sites, toilets and other facilities.
With this kind of camping infrastructure to call on and so many roads and tracks to explore, it’s possible to embark on whatever Misty Mountains adventure you can dream up, from a half-day taster to a multi-day, fully self-supported trip.
Roads and trails are closed seasonally, so check parks alerts for the latest updates.
