Cairns Airport is the main hub for Tropical North Queensland. It’s served by 14 domestic and international airlines, including smaller airlines flying to regional destinations. Flights are available to all Australian mainland capitals and major centres, as well as cities in Asia Pacific, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. There are two passenger terminals – T1 for international flights and T2 for domestic flights. It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk between the terminals along a covered path. Inside the terminals, you’ll find a selection of shops, with well-known brands like Victoria’s Secret and MAC, specialty stores featuring uniquely Australian products as well as surfwear, souvenirs and an extensive Duty-Free range. Grab a pre-flight drink at the Great Northern Brewery (in T2) or a snack at one of the many cafes and restaurants. There are also three airline lounges for eligible flyers to enjoy.
The airport is a 10-minute drive from the centre of Cairns and approximately an hour from Port Douglas. The Airport Connect bus links the airport with the Cairns public transport system from Sheridan Street. Shuttle buses are also available to Cairns and Port Douglas. Car rental booths are located in the Arrivals Halls in each terminal. Limousine, taxi and ride-booking services are also available.
