Tropical North Queensland stretches from the town of Cardwell in the south to the Torres Strait Islands, north of Cape York – the most northerly point on the Australian mainland. It covers the area across the tip of the state into the Gulf of Carpentaria, and includes a number of offshore islands as well as the northern end of the Great Barrier Reef. The landscapes here range from golden sandy beaches to lush green hinterland, ancient rainforest and rich red savannah.
