Normanton Visitor Information Centre and Library

The Normanton Visitor Information Centre is located in the historic Burns Philp Building, a perfect example of the original colonial architecture, that is an attraction in itself. Visitors can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, a cool drink and talk to the friendly staff to find out what to see and do in the Carpentaria region. You might like to purchase a small souvenir and browse Normanton’s attractions and history.

The Visitor Information Centre houses the Heritage Centre showcasing displays of past and present Indigenous stockmen and women, a history of the Gulflander, several explorers including Burke and Wills and Leichhardt as well as local crocodile hunters. There are also displays featuring flood photos of Normanton, wildlife displays and historical artefacts.
