Nature’s PowerHouse Visitor Information Centre, Gallery and Cafe

Nature’s Powerhouse is a much loved community asset situated in the magnificent Cooktown Botanic Gardens. Operating as a social enterprise (under the management of the Cooktown District Community Centre) since July 2016, the spectacular timber and steel structure is home to a veranda café specialising in local produce, a retail space and art galleries.

Housing the Vera Scarth-Johnson and Banks Florilegium art collections, the modern interior has hosted exhibition openings, weddings, parties, funerals, civic meetings, community get-togethers and concerts.

They welcome residents and visitors to come and visit, enjoy breakfast or lunch, coffee and cake, wander through the gardens, check out their latest exhibitions, find out about “their” Vera, and her wonderful legacy.

Meet Keith, their Chef Extraordinaire, and savour the wonderful fresh flavours of Tropical North Queensland in this beautiful setting!
