The annual Great Adventures Green Island Ocean Swim is set to make a splash with competitors taking on the 1.5km and 3km swims, as well as a shorter 500m distance swim.
This unique Great Barrier Reef competition takes place on the leeward side of the island with each leg of the event offering a variety of conditions from shallows to wind chop and tidal flow. Water temperatures around this time of year average 24 degrees with air temperatures around 28 degrees.
The Great Adventures Green Island Swim is a community event and is supported by Surf Life Saving Queensland and the Cairns Crocs. Please note spectators are welcome and can be registered to travel at a discounted rate. The Nippers swim is a great way for under 12s to get involved too, and has no registration fee.
