Cape York Marathon

1 May 2022

Event Details

Bamaga, Australia’s northernmost settlement on the mainland, is the start line for the only marathon in the Northern Peninsula Regional Council Area. The tiny yet vibrant township hosts the race to Australia’s most northern tip, starting with a briefing and welcoming party the night. This year, a 7km Fun Run is new to the program.

Commencing at dawn on the outskirts of the quiet little town, a traditional Welcome to Country ceremony will herald the start of the race. Competitors will follow the current 4WD track all the way to the rocky outcrop, and race back to Bamaga before the humidity kicks in.
