While other places are huddled inside around heaters, in Tropical North Queensland you can indulge in cocktails by the pool at a luxury resort… or raise money riding 780kms to Karumba – ay, carumba! Check out these June events to add to your calendar.

IRONMAN Cairns Asia Pacific Championship

Cheer on athletes at the world's best IRONMAN

Make way to the tropics for the iconic Ironman Cairns Asia-Pacific Championship and see why this triathlon was voted the World’s Best Ironman course by athletes in recent years. Sign up for the “race in paradise” and challenge yourself to swim 3.8kms, ride 180kms and run 42km. Prime your pedals for the ultimate bike ride along the palm-fringed Captain Cook Highway, swim off the coastal haven of Palm Cove and race to the finish line on Cairns Esplanade.

If you’re after something a little less intense, sign up for one of the 2022 festival events, which includes the Quicksilver Green Island Reef Swim, or browse the Cairns Sport & Lifestyle Expo on the Cairns Esplanade. Or if you fancy cheering on the athletes, head to one of the many vantage points.
