Ramp up your Tropical North Queensland trip by catching one of these fantastic events in November.

Tropical North Queensland is known for it’s epic reef adventures, magical rainforest tours and exciting nightlife, but it’s also home to some world-class events. Plan your next holiday with this guide to November events.

Cairns Indigenous Art Fair

It’s finally time for the event we’ve all been waiting patiently for, the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF). This year’s event features a full program of hybrid events, including fashion, storytelling and a select number of live performances. The majority of events will be online, giving spectators across the globe access to artist profiles, children’s story time and performances. Those in Cairns can enjoy the in-person events, including Music in the Park and the film premier of Alick & Albert.

Port Douglas Marlin Challenge

If fishing is your area of expertise, or you simply enjoy throwing in a line, join anglers from all over the country in an epic challenge to find one of the ocean’s greatest prizes – the Marlin. Tropical North Queensland hosts some of the best Marlin fishing in the world and game boats and crews will head to Port Douglas this November, all with the anticipation of being the one to catch a giant Black Marlin.

Market Day

Shopping is a favourite pastime in Tropical North Queensland, with an abundance of markets to occupy your weekends. If you’re a lover of antiques or retro, you’ll often find special pieces and quirky finds in the vintage shops and second-hand stores around the region, but don’t forget to add some markets to your list. From the well-established Rusty’s in Cairns, where you can shop for dinner, buy a new outfit and have a massage all under one roof, to the eclectic Port Douglas Markets under the shady trees of Anzac Park, to the historic village of Yungaburra. For a taste of tropical lifestyle try the Tanks Markets, set amongst the rainforest at the Cairns Botanical Gardens or stroll along the Esplanade at the Palm Cove markets.
